WHY THORNBURY

Built on Substance, Not Presence

We measure success by the quality of the output and the clarity it creates — not by how often we appear in your calendar.

Senior-Only Delivery

Every engagement is staffed and delivered by consultants with substantial industry experience — there is no delegation to junior staff.

Written Deliverables

Each engagement produces a document that can be used, referenced, and shared within your organisation — not a presentation that fades from memory.

Confidentiality by Design

Particularly for succession and leadership work, our processes are designed to protect sensitivity at every stage of the engagement.

Defined Scope

You know what you are getting before you start — timeline, outputs, and involvement are agreed at the outset with no scope creep.

Practical, Usable Output

Recommendations are grounded in what your organisation can actually implement — not academic frameworks disconnected from operational reality.

Hong Kong Context

We understand the regional operating environment — regulatory considerations, talent dynamics, and market pressures specific to companies based in HK.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked

How are engagements typically structured?
Each engagement has a defined scope, timeline, and deliverable agreed at the outset. We work with you to ensure the format fits your organisation's working style — whether that means in-person sessions at our Gateway offices, remote facilitation, or a combination of both.
Who actually carries out the work?
All engagements are staffed by senior consultants. Thornbury does not operate a model where senior partners sell work that is subsequently delivered by analysts. The consultant you meet in the first conversation is the one who conducts the engagement.
Can engagements be customised in scope?
The three published services represent our most common engagement formats. Where an organisation has a specific need that sits adjacent to one of these, we are open to discussing a tailored scope. We will be direct if we believe a standard engagement format addresses the need adequately.
How is confidentiality managed?
A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed prior to any substantive work. For succession assessments in particular, individual conversations with leadership candidates are conducted under a separately agreed confidentiality protocol, with findings reported in aggregate form to the commissioning executive or board.
What types of organisations does Thornbury typically work with?
Our clients are typically mid-size to larger businesses based in or operating from Hong Kong — across financial services, professional services, logistics, and commercial sectors. What they share is a preference for considered, structured engagement over reactive advisory relationships.
What does the initial conversation involve?
We typically begin with a 30-minute call or meeting — no preparation required on your side. The goal is simply to understand where your organisation is and whether one of our services is likely to be of value. There is no pressure to proceed, and we will say clearly if we do not believe we are the right fit.
