OUR COMPANY

Who We Are

A consultancy formed around a single conviction: that advisory work is most valuable when it is precisely focused, honestly delivered, and followed through.

OUR STORY

Established for a Different Kind of Engagement

Thornbury was founded in Hong Kong by a group of consultants who had spent years in larger advisory practices and observed a recurring pattern: organisations with genuine strategic needs were often served by engagement models that prioritised volume over quality, and junior delivery over senior judgment.

The firm was built to address that gap. Operating from the 32nd floor of Tower 6 at The Gateway in Tsim Sha Tsui, Thornbury works with a deliberate limit on the number of active engagements at any time — ensuring that every client relationship receives real attention from experienced practitioners.

Over the years, our work has spanned corporate strategy, leadership continuity, and supplier governance — three domains where clarity of thinking and careful structuring make a measurable difference to outcomes.

We do not position ourselves as a full-service firm. What we do, we do carefully. What falls outside our scope, we say so plainly.

Our Mission

To deliver structured, senior-led advisory work that helps organisations resolve the questions that matter most — with clarity, discretion, and a commitment to outputs that can actually be used.

Our Values

  • Directness — we say what we find, including when it is inconvenient
  • Continuity — the person who designs your engagement delivers it
  • Restraint — we scope engagements to what is genuinely needed
  • Discretion — confidentiality is a structural element, not an afterthought

HOW WE WORK

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

These are not aspirational statements. They are the operational standards that govern how we structure and conduct every engagement.

Senior Delivery Guarantee

No work is delegated to staff who lack the seniority to make independent professional judgments. The consultant named on the engagement delivers it.

Documented Scope Agreement

Every engagement begins with a written scope statement — outputs, timeline, involvement required, and fee. Nothing proceeds without mutual agreement on these terms.

Confidentiality Protocols

Mutual NDAs are signed at the outset. For succession work, individual interview content is reported in aggregate, not attributed. No client is referenced without explicit consent.

Regulatory Awareness

Our work takes account of Hong Kong regulatory frameworks relevant to the engagement context, including Companies Ordinance obligations and SFC considerations where applicable.

Post-Engagement Review

We request a brief structured review with the client at the close of each engagement — not to solicit endorsement, but to assess whether the output genuinely served the stated need.

Data Handling

Client documents and data are handled according to agreed protocols, stored securely, and returned or destroyed at engagement close. We do not retain materials for case study purposes without consent.

Business Consulting in Hong Kong's Commercial Centre

Thornbury operates from The Gateway in Tsim Sha Tsui — one of Hong Kong's established centres for professional services. The location reflects the firm's position within the city's commercial ecosystem: accessible to listed companies, family enterprises, and regional subsidiaries of multinational organisations.

Our advisory work focuses on the decisions that have lasting organisational consequence — where leadership changes, strategic direction, and supplier relationships intersect with the long-term health of the business. These are not areas where templated solutions or junior analysts produce useful outcomes.

Hong Kong's position as a regional headquarters hub creates a particular demand for advisory capability that understands both international standards and local operating conditions. Thornbury was built to serve organisations that operate within this context.
